By Jitendra Baghel, Admissions Counsellor at Pramana Institute
Indore is a long way from Singrauli. There is no regular direct train, so most families change once, at Katni or Bhopal, and the whole journey takes about 17 to 20 hours. This page is for Singrauli families who have decided their child will move away for JEE or NEET coaching.
Why distance is not the deciding question
A student who leaves Singrauli for coaching will live in a hostel, so the length of the journey matters less than what happens after arrival. What decides the next one or two years is the classroom: how many students share it, who teaches them, and whether anyone notices when a student starts to slip. Families from Singrauli, Waidhan and Sidhi should ask these questions of any institute they visit, including ours.
Indore suits families who want a large, safe city inside Madhya Pradesh, with the same state board and state counselling and an affordable cost of living. Once the trip is planned, parents can visit for a weekend: the weekly Singrauli–Bhopal Superfast takes about 12 hours to Bhopal, and Indore is a few hours further by train or bus.
Why a small batch matters more the farther you are
When home is a day’s journey away, you depend on the institute to tell you how your child is really doing. In a batch of 150, a quiet student from a smaller city can fall behind for months before anyone notices.
At Pramana every batch has at most 40 students, and every 20 students have a named mentor who meets each student for 15 minutes every week. Parents in Singrauli get a progress report every fortnight by phone or WhatsApp, covering chapter readiness, test trend, attendance and the mentor’s note. Our faculty includes IIT graduates and former Allen and Aakash teachers with 14 to 25 years of experience, and the teachers you meet at admission teach the batch all year.
Where your child will stay
Hostels near the institute include Rishita Girls Hostel and SK Boys Hostel (see indorehostel.com). A hostel with meals costs about ₹6,500 to ₹15,000 a month, and a PG about ₹4,000 to ₹10,000. Because a second trip from Singrauli is costly, our counsellors help families shortlist and book a hostel by phone, so the first visit can be the move itself if needed. Our guide to moving to Indore for coaching covers costs and living arrangements in detail, and our page on why families choose Indore for coaching explains what to weigh before the move.

Scholarships: why the test matters most from far away
For a family paying for travel and a hostel, a scholarship changes the sums. The free online Prashast scholarship test runs from 31 October to 30 November 2026 and can be taken from home in Singrauli. It awards tuition scholarships of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%, and the top 10 who meet the criteria also get free hostel and meals. Scholarships are confirmed after an interview in Indore.
How to start
- Take the Prashast test from home.
- Call us for a phone or video counselling session, including help choosing a hostel.
- Plan one visit to Indore to see the classrooms and meet the teachers, ideally combined with the move.
- Book the hostel before the batch starts.
