Dhar is about 60 km from Indore, usually 1 to 1.5 hours by bus, with around 37 buses a day. That puts serious JEE and NEET coaching within reach without moving to Kota. The real question for a Dhar family is not distance. It is whether the coaching your child gets in Indore will be worth the travel or the hostel.
Why Dhar students come to Indore for JEE and NEET
Most Dhar students who aim for IITs or government medical colleges reach a point where school teaching is not enough. JEE Advanced and NEET reward deep concept clarity and a lot of timed practice, and both need teachers who have taught these exams for years. Students from Dhar, Pithampur, Dhamnod and Manawar have long travelled to Indore for exactly this.
The risk is choosing a large Indore batch of 150 or more, where a child from a smaller town can sit quietly at the back for a year and fall behind without anyone noticing. Distance from home makes that harder to spot.
Why a small batch matters more when you live away
At Pramana every batch has at most 40 students, and every 20 students have a named mentor who meets each student for 15 minutes every week. Parents get a progress report every fortnight, by phone or WhatsApp for families outside Indore. When you are 60 km away, that report is how you know whether the year is working, chapter by chapter, test by test.
Our faculty includes IIT graduates and former Allen and Aakash teachers with 14 to 25 years of experience. The teachers you meet at admission are the ones who teach the batch all year.
Daily travel or a hostel?
A daily bus from Dhar takes 2 to 3 hours out of the day, the hours a JEE or NEET student needs for practice. Most Dhar students stay in Indore on weekdays and go home at weekends. Hostels near the institute include Rishita Girls Hostel and SK Boys Hostel (see indorehostel.com). A hostel with meals costs about ₹6,500 to ₹15,000 a month, and a PG about ₹4,000 to ₹10,000. Our guide to moving to Indore for coaching covers costs and living arrangements in detail.

Scholarships: why it is worth taking the test from Dhar
The free online Prashast scholarship test runs from 31 October to 30 November 2026 and can be taken from home. It awards tuition scholarships of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%, and the top 10 who meet the criteria also get free hostel and meals, which matters most to a family paying for a stay in Indore. Scholarships are confirmed after an interview in Indore.
How to start
- Take the Prashast test from home.
- Book a weekend counselling visit, so the whole family can see the classrooms and meet the teachers.
- Choose a hostel nearby before the batch starts.
