By Deeksha Borkar, Admissions Counsellor at Pramana Institute
Khandwa is about 130 to 140 km from Indore, usually 3.5 to 4 hours by bus, with around 31 buses a day. The direct railway line through Mhow is being converted to broad gauge, so for now most families travel by road. That distance settles one question straight away: a Khandwa student who chooses Indore will live in Indore. So the choice of institute decides not only the teaching, but your child’s whole year away from home.
Why Khandwa students choose Indore over Kota
For a family in Khandwa, Sanawad or the Omkareshwar side, Indore is the nearest city with experienced JEE and NEET faculty. Kota is much farther away; Indore is a half-day bus ride, so a parent can visit for a Sunday and a student can come home for festivals without losing a week. The teaching standard is what matters, and that is now available closer to home.
Why living away makes the size of the batch matter
A student who has moved to a new city needs someone who notices when they slip: a missed class, a falling test score, a quiet week. In a batch of 150, nobody does. At Pramana every batch has at most 40 students, and every 20 students have a named mentor who meets each one for 15 minutes every week. Parents in Khandwa get a progress report every fortnight by phone or WhatsApp, covering chapter readiness, test trend, attendance and the mentor’s note.
Our faculty includes IIT graduates and former Allen and Aakash teachers with 14 to 25 years of experience, and the teachers you meet at admission are the ones who teach the batch all year.
Where your child will stay
Hostels near the institute include Rishita Girls Hostel and SK Boys Hostel (see indorehostel.com). A hostel with meals costs about ₹6,500 to ₹15,000 a month, and a PG about ₹4,000 to ₹10,000. Our counsellors help families choose before the batch starts. Our guide to moving to Indore for coaching explains costs and living arrangements in detail.

Scholarships: why the test matters more from Khandwa
For a family also paying for a hostel, a scholarship changes the sums. The free online Prashast scholarship test runs from 31 October to 30 November 2026 and can be taken from home in Khandwa. It awards tuition scholarships of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%, and the top 10 who meet the criteria also get free hostel and meals. Scholarships are confirmed after an interview in Indore.
How to start
- Take the Prashast test from home.
- Plan one weekend visit to Indore: see the classrooms, meet the teachers and look at hostels on the same day.
- Book the hostel before the batch starts.
