By Jitendra Baghel, Admissions Counsellor at Pramana Institute
Jhabua is about 150 km from Indore, usually 3 to 3.5 hours by bus, with around 50 buses a day. That is too far to travel daily, so a Jhabua student who chooses Indore will live in Indore. The real question for the family is not whether the city is right. It is whether the coaching, the hostel and the year away from home will be worth it, and whether the cost can be managed.
Why Jhabua students come to Indore for JEE and NEET
Students from Jhabua, Petlawad, Thandla and Meghnagar who aim for an IIT or a government medical college usually reach a point where school teaching is not enough. JEE Advanced and NEET reward deep concept clarity and a lot of timed practice, and both need teachers who have taught these exams for years. Indore is the nearest city where that teaching is available, and much closer than Kota.
The risk is a large batch of 150 or more, where a student who is new to the city can sit at the back for a year without anyone noticing that they are falling behind.
Why a small batch matters when you are far from home
At Pramana every batch has at most 40 students, and every 20 students have a named mentor who meets each student for 15 minutes every week. Parents get a progress report every fortnight by phone or WhatsApp, covering chapter readiness, test trend, attendance and the mentor’s note. From 150 km away, that report is how you know whether the year is working.
Our faculty includes IIT graduates and former Allen and Aakash teachers with 14 to 25 years of experience. The teachers you meet at admission are the ones who teach the batch all year.
Scholarships: why the test matters most from Jhabua
For a family that will also pay for a hostel, a scholarship can decide whether Indore is possible at all. The free online Prashast scholarship test runs from 31 October to 30 November 2026 and can be taken from home in Jhabua. It awards tuition scholarships of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%, and the top 10 who meet the criteria also get free hostel and meals.
Scholarships are confirmed after an interview in Indore.
Where your child will stay
Hostels near the institute include Rishita Girls Hostel and SK Boys Hostel (see indorehostel.com). A hostel with meals costs about ₹6,500 to ₹15,000 a month, and a PG about ₹4,000 to ₹10,000. Our counsellors help families choose before the batch starts. Our guide to moving to Indore for coaching explains costs and living arrangements in detail.
