By Kokil Jain, Chemistry faculty at Pramana Institute (IIT Kanpur, 14 years teaching JEE and NEET)
Choosing a coaching institute is one of the biggest decisions in a JEE or NEET aspirant’s two years. Fees are high, time is short, and every institute says it is the best. These ten questions help you compare institutes on what actually affects results. Print it and take it to every counselling visit, including ours.
1. How many students sit in one batch?
In a batch of 150, a shy student can go weeks without asking a question. Ask for the exact cap and whether it is kept after admissions close. At Pramana, batches are capped at 40.
2. Who will actually teach my child?
Ask for the names of the teachers who will take your child’s batch, not the institute’s star faculty. Check their degrees and how many years they have taught JEE or NEET.
3. Can we attend a demo class?
A good institute lets your child sit in a real class. Watch whether students ask questions and whether the teacher checks understanding.
4. How often are tests held, and what happens after them?
Weekly tests matter only if someone goes through the mistakes with the student. Ask who reviews each test and how.
5. Is there a personal mentor?
Ask how often a mentor meets each student, for how long, and what they discuss. At Pramana, each mentor looks after 20 students and meets each one for 15 minutes every week.
6. How will parents know how my child is doing?
Ask to see a sample progress report and how often it is sent. A report every two weeks lets you act before problems grow.
7. What are the total fees, and what is included?
Ask for one written figure covering tuition, study material, test series and any registration charges. Ask about the refund policy and scholarship options.
Pramana’s fees: ₹1,00,000 + GST per year for the Class 11 and 12 program, and ₹1,20,000 + GST for the one-year Dropper Program.
Scholarships for meritorious students: Students from Class 9 to 12-pass can take the free Pramana Prashast scholarship test online from home between 31 October and 30 November 2026. Based on the result, students can earn a 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% tuition scholarship, and up to 10 top performers who meet the criteria receive 100% tuition plus free hostel and meals. Scholarships are confirmed after a counselling-cum-academic interview in Indore and are renewed each year based on performance and attendance.
8. How are doubts handled outside class?
Ask whether there are fixed doubt-clearing hours and whether teachers are reachable after class.
9. Are the results claims verifiable?
Ask for names, ranks and years, and whether those students studied in the classroom program or only took a test series.
10. Is it safe and practical for daily life?
Check travel time, timings that fit with school, and, for students from outside Indore, hostel or PG options near the institute. Families who join Pramana from other cities often choose Rishita Girls Hostel and SK Boys Hostel.

FAQs
Is a bigger institute always better? No. A larger brand often means larger batches. What matters is how much attention your child gets from teachers and mentors.
Should we choose online or offline coaching? Offline coaching suits most Class 11 students because of fixed routine and direct doubt-clearing. Online test series work well alongside it for extra practice.
When should we decide? Ideally before Class 11 starts, so the student does not miss the first months of the syllabus. Scholarship tests in October–November help you compare.
